Milestone: Neon Riders help with hygiene supplies

A group of young equine aficionados are making a difference, one care package at a time.

Members of the Port Angeles-based Neon Riders 4-H equine club recently put together 85 bags worth of hygiene supplies that they distributed to several locations in Sequim and Port Angeles, including to high schools and food banks in both communities, the Salvation Army and others.

The group, about 26 members strong, collated hygiene supplies for donation that included items such as deodorant, shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste as well as hand sanitizer, body wash and more, according to Paisley Morris, a Neon Riders member and the group’s media coordinator.

“Our leader came up with the idea to do the project,” Morris said last week.

“It gives credit for a big award we can receive at the end of the year for the most community service projects completed , and we stand by a pledge to ‘be good to thy community, country, and world.’”
