Longtime supporters of the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society, George and Bertha Norris recently were honored by their granddaughter Suzanne Garrett with a bench in front of the Bark House at the shelter.
The Norrises were instrumental in developing the original Humane Society and were involved in the shelter from 1950 until their retirement in 1983.
The Olympic Peninsula Humane Society has maintained an active presence in the community since 1947. The Society shelters and cares for animals of all types. A private, nonprofit corporation, the Society is financed primarily by private donations and gifts. No animals are turned away and annually 1,500-2,000 animals pass through the doors of the facility. For more information or to volunteer, call the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society at 360-457-8206.
