Sequim Prairie Garden Club officials presented club member Arlene Sawyer with the Washington State Federation of Garden Club Life Member Award in May.

Sawyer has been an active member since 2011 and has taken on the mantle of Park Chairman for Pioneer Memorial Park.

The club manages and maintains this 4-acre park, and Sawyer fulfills the task of coordinating park grounds activities that include organizing garden club member work parties and any hired maintenance.

“She has been instrumental in developing new garden bed designs and plantings (and) has been invaluable in organizing our plant sales,” club members said earlier this month. “She works tirelessly and can be seen in the park, rain or shine.”
