Olympic BirdFest 2025 is scheduled for April 10-13 across the North Olympic Peninsula. The annual festival, a highlight for birding enthusiasts and nature lovers, is nearly sold out, but a handful of program openings remain.
The four-day festival features expert-guided field trips, hands-on workshops and educational presentations, offering opportunities to explore the diverse habitats of the region. The schedule of events includes:
Thursday, April 10
”Owls of the Olympic Peninsula” – a seminar led by Powell Jones on the nocturnal adaptations of the region’s owls.
Friday, April 11
Bird Drawing Class – Artist Robert Amaral teaches techniques for sketching birds from the Dungeness River Nature Center’s extensive collection of mounts.
“Bays & Coasts of the Olympic Peninsula” – A guided field trip exploring prime coastal birding areas from Sequim Bay to the Elwha River.
Saturday, April 12
Backyard Feeder Tour – A look at how local properties successfully attract and support birds.
“Keith’s Frame of Mind Wildlife Photography Workshop” – A full-day workshop with esteemed photographer Keith Ross.
Sunday, April 13
Birding Sequim Bay & John Wayne Marina – A morning field trip focused on seabirds, ducks and alcids.
Discovery Bay Wild Bird Rescue Meet & Greet – A chance to meet ambassador raptors and learn about bird rehabilitation efforts (free for kids).
Olympic BirdFest draws birders from across the Pacific Northwest and beyond, celebrating the region’s spectacular resident and migratory birds while giving participants the chance to explore the region’s rich landscape diversity.

The Olympic BirdFest is an annual celebration of the rich birding opportunities on the North Olympic Peninsula. Co-sponsored by the Dungeness River Nature Center, the Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society, and the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, the festival offers participants the chance to explore diverse habitats and observe a wide variety of bird species.
