Optometrist Dr. Tom Reis headlines Music Live with Lunch for its March 15 program “From Bach to Broadway.”

Reis, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church’s choir director, is accompanied on piano by Lorraine Martin, choir director and organist at St Luke’s Episcopal Church.

Some of the songs featured in the 30-minute show in St. Luke’s, 525 N. Fifth Ave., include “Be Still My Soul/You Raise Me Up,” “You’ll Never Walk Alone/I’ll Walk With God” and the “The Impossible Dream.”

Reis has long tenure in music. He’s studied piano since age 9 and voice from 16, and began choral conducting at age 29. Professionally, he’s practiced optometry in Port Angeles since 1991 and in 2014 he became a Diplomate certified by the American Board of Optometry.

Martin, an award-winning musician, has been recognized globally for her work including being selected to go to China by the Minnesota Department of Education to dialogue and demonstrate musical and educational techniques with Chinese secondary and college administrators, teachers and students.

Music Live with Lunch was founded more than 25 years ago at St. Luke’s by Lou and Bill Yandell as a musical outreach to the community. It continues each month on the third Tuesday through May with 30 minutes of music followed by a hot lunch and camaraderie in the parish hall.

Tickets cost $10 and are available in advance at the church office from 9 a.m.-noon Monday-Thursday or at the event. With questions, call 683-4862.
