Olympic Theatre Arts, Sequim, has announced auditions for the upcoming production of “Picasso at the Lapin Agile,” which will run from July 10-26, in the OTA Main Stage venue.
This comedy by actor Steve Martin places Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso in a Parisian cafe in 1904. Each is on the cusp of revolutionizing his field and forging new paths into the future. The scientist and artist join a host of colorful characters as they celebrate life in the Belle Epoque.
The cast calls for seven males and two females as follows: Picasso, age 20; Einstein, age 20; Freddy, the bartender, age 40-60; Gaston, humorous French patron, age 60 plus; Germaine, Freddy’s girlfriend and waitress, age 30-40; three cameo roles, Suzanne, The Countess and Female Admirer, age 20; Sagot, art dealer, age 25-60; Schmendiman, comedic inventor, age 30-60; and A Visitor, resembling Elvis Presley, age 25-40.
Auditions will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, and from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, May 16, in the OTA Center Gathering Hall. The director, Anna Anderson, will have audition candidates read from the play’s script. Audition forms are available in advance online at the Olympic Theatre Arts website; head shots and resumes are encouraged but not required.
