"Summer of Love," Olympic Theatre Arts’ musical for the 2013-2014 season, opens Feb. 7.
A jukebox musical, it uses classic tunes of the 1960s to tell the story of Holly, a bride who runs away from convention, and her fiancé, Curtis, who chases after her to lure her back.
Set in 1967, "Summer of Love," written by Roger Bean, takes place in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park where Holly and Curtis stumble across a tribe of hippies who show them that convention is not the only way to live. Their lives are transformed as they get swept up in the times that changed the world — a summer that became known as the Summer of Love.
The show runs Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. through Feb. 23. Advance tickets are available online at www.olympictheatrearts.org or you can purchase them at the box office, 414 N. Sequim Ave., Monday through Friday, from 1-5 p.m. A preview is set for Feb. 5, with tickets $10 (or free to OTA members). A pay-as-you-wish performance is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 12.
