Olympic Theatre Arts, 414 N. Sequim Ave., launches a new Children’s Theatre Workshop series starting this month.

The first workshop, “Auditioning Skills,” focuses on building self-confidence and developing performance readiness skills for children ages 8-18.

It goes Monday, Dec. 29-Jan. 3, excluding New Year’s Day, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays and from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Jan. 3 for the monologue presentation to invited guests.

Tuition is $150 for the week with lunch and snacks provided. Enrollment is limited.

Bonne Smith and Lee Harwell serve as workshop instructors/ directors with classroom assistance by Danny Willis, all OTA veterans.

“Our goal is to empower children by identifying and building on their strengths and also to introduce them to aspects of theatre production that may be new to them,” Smith said. “We plan to explore performing arts through theatre games and instructional activities while building skills to enable the participants to present a polished monologue to an audience at week’s end.”
