OTA presents staged reading of Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’

Olympic Theatre Arts has announced the fourth annual staged reading of William Shakespeare’s comedy, “Twelfth Night (Or What You Will)” for three performances, Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. and Jan. 7-8 at matinees beginning at 3 p.m. This classic Shakespearian comedy focuses on mistaken identities, crossed lovers and farcical pranks played out by an elaborately costumed cast and accompanying minstrels.

Rich Hendricksen, who directed the performance last year, has returned again, as well as some of the cast members.

“This production just keeps getting more festive and elaborate,” Hendricksen said. “This year we have added new props and set dressings and will have live instrumentalists filling the hall with period melodies before, during and after the show.”

The performance takes place in OTA’s Gathering Hall which will be transformed to an Elizabethan House of Revelry. Patrons are encouraged to come in costume and be prepared to enjoy the performance played out around them. Light refreshments and seasonal drinks will be available during the show.

Advanced tickets are $12 and are available in online at olympictheatrearts.org or at the theater box office, 414 N. Sequim Ave., open 1-5 pm., Monday-Friday. Tickets also will be sold at the door one hour prior to show time if available. Seating is limited.
