Olympic Theatre Arts hosts the Grand Olympics Chorus of Sweet Adelines, International, during Sequim’s December Art Walk on Dec. 1. The Sweet Adelines,”as they are known locally, is a fun-loving group of women who are committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education, competition and performance.
The group takes the stage at 5:30 p.m. at OTA, 414 N. Sequim Ave. with free admission and a beverage and snack bar available.
The program focuses on a festival of traditional holiday and inspirational songs, featuring some favorites such as “Secret of Christmas” and “You Raise Me Up.”
“Our main focus is on the barbershop art form but we do enjoy singing other forms of acapella, as well,” said Connie Alward, director of the group.
She said the group is always open to new members and they perform year-round throughout the community at assisted-living centers and retirement homes. They’ve been honored to be part of the Veteran’s Day ceremony at the US Coast Guard station in Port Angeles every year too.
The group rehearses at 6:30 p.m. Mondays in Suite E103 next to QFC in Sequim.
