The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center is offering summer children’s programming with Shakespeare Drama Camps and also an outdoor art workshop.
Summer Shakespeare Drama Camp is designed to help children develop confidence, creativity and important life skills while immersing themselves in the incredible world of Shakespeare.
Using props and costumes from the Fine Arts Center’s production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” children will explore different characters and learn the meaning behind Shakespeare’s words.
Throughout the week, drama games, stage terms and character development will be covered with a play for friends and family performed on the last day.
The camp is for ages 13-17 and is from Aug. 15-19 at the Campfire Clubhouse, 619 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles. The cost is $100 per child.
The camp is led by instructor Sarah Tucker, who taught at last year’s Shakespeare Drama Camps and the Fine Arts Center After School Drama Clubs, as well as for The Juan de Fuca Festival Discovery Arts Camp and Forte’ After School Clubs.
PAFAC also is offering “Kids Create Outside!” Three professional artists will create art outdoors in a 15-minute demo in the Webster’s Woods Art Park meadow.
Afterwards, youths are invited to grab an art kit and head into the Art Park with their parents to draw from nature.
The artists are Doug Parent, Deidre Gonzales, Jeff Tocher and Sarah Tucker.
The workshops are Aug. 13 from 10 a.m.-12:15 p.m. and from 1-3:15 p.m.; it’s for children ages 7-15 and the cost is $3 per child, per session.
An adult must accompany child throughout. Please no drop-offs.
