Sequim artist Priscilla Patterson, a member of the American Society of Aviation Artists, recently was honored with the acceptance of her work in the ASAA 2015 International Aerospace Art Exhibition at the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force gallery in Savannah, Ga.
Patterson was one of 32 artists from around the world whose work was selected from over 100 entries. The display opened May 12 and runs through Aug. 28. Her oil painting, titled “Serenity,” depicts a Cessna 206 and DeHavilland Beaver at rest in the calm waters of Kodiak, Alaska’s Trident Basin.
Patterson and her husband are former long-time residents of Kodiak and have lived in Sequim since 2006.
The ASAA holds annual forums which cover a variety of subjects and valuable information for artists, collectors and aviation enthusiasts alike. During this year’s ASAA Forum, which ran from May 11-15, Patterson’s painting was awarded second place in the General Aviation Category. She also received a silver Founders’ ribbon in the unjuried exhibition for her watercolor painting depicting the restoration of the Mighty Eighth Air Force museum’s B17, “The City of Savannah” (pictured).
