PEO plans fundraising bazaar, raffle

“Shoppers know they’ll find treasures at our holiday bazaar and that the dollars they spend there support a great cause – education for women,” said Lynne Kott, PEO Chapter JC’s Bazaar chairman. The bazaar, held in Pioneer Park in previous years, will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, in a new location — the foyer of Sequim Community Church, 950 N. Fifth Ave. The bazaar will feature handcrafted gifts and baked goods made by members of PEO Chapter JC, in Sequim, as well as gently used books and a raffle drawing for a rustic birdhouse valued at $150.

The lucky winner of the birdhouse that Max Flockerzie made and donated for the raffle also will receive birdseed, a bird book and braces for attaching the birdhouse to a post. The birdhouse is on display at Rainshadow Coffee, 157 W. Cedar St. in Sequim and raffle tickets may be purchased there. Raffle tickets are $1 and they also will be on sale at the bazaar before the drawing. The winning ticket will be drawn at 1 p.m. on Nov. 1 at the bazaar. The winner need not be present.

Chapter JC hosts the annual bazaar to raise funds for PEO programs that provide financial aid to women worldwide for undergraduate and graduate studies. PEO makes a difference in women’s lives with six philanthropies that include ownership of Cottey College for women (Nevada, Mo.) and five programs that provide higher educational assistance through grants, loans and scholarships.
