PHOTO: Tribal activist

A model of a statue of Nisqually tribal activist Billy Frank Jr. by Chinese American sculptor Haiying Wu sits in the Port Angeles Public Library in conjunction with a meeting of the Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission.

The model eventually will be cast in bronze and installed in the National Statuary Hall in Washington, D.C.

Frank received a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2015 for his work in fighting for tribal treaty rights and obligations. The statue will be on display at the library through Saturday.
