The Clallam Conservation District is taking orders for its annual Native Plant Sale. The district hosts the sale to provide affordable native plants for wildlife habitat enhancement and environmentally friendly landscaping.

Plants are sold in bundles of five, 10, and 25 depending on species, with prices ranging from $24 to $39 per bundle. Most of the plants are 1- to 2-year-old bare-root seedlings ranging in size from 8 inches to 24 inches; however, some specialty species are available as plugs, young plants in small seedling pots.

The following species are available through their sale: Conifer tree bare-root seedlings include Douglas fir, grand fir, noble fir, Sitka spruce, western hemlock, western red cedar, and western white pine. Deciduous tree bare-root seedlings include big leaf maple, Oregon white oak, Pacific crabapple, red alder, Rocky Mountain maple, and vine maple. Deciduous shrub bare-root seedlings include blue elderberry, mock orange, Nootka rose, oceanspray, osoberry, Pacific ninebark, red elderberry, red flowering currant, red osier dogwood, serviceberry, thimbleberry, and twinberry. Evergreen shrubs include low Oregon grape, sold as a bare-root seedling, and Pacific rhododendron and salal which are both sold as plugs. Ferns include deer fern and sword fern, both sold as plugs as well.

Place your orders online at clallamcd.org/native-plants. Plants will be available for pick-up on March 1 and 2 at Lazy J Tree Farm, 225 Gehrke Road, between Sequim and Port Angeles.
