PTA’s Turkey Trots fund reading programs

Sequim elementary students, with support from family and friends, have trotted their way to another successful Turkey Trot.

The Sequim Elementary PTA surpassed its $28,000 fundraising goal for reading programs and other initiatives at Greywolf (GWE) and Helen Haller Elementary (HHE) schools.

Students at both schools finished laps either inside Greywolf’s gymnasium or at the district’s track on Nov. 27, just before the holiday break.

Students were proud of their lap counts at both schools, with some kindergarteners at Greywolf saying they had so much fun they could do 1-thousand to 1-million more.

PTA representatives said funds support The Six Books for Summer Reading program at HHE, the last day of school book give-away at GWE, partially fund the Boost Reading program at GWE, an alumni scholarship, funds for the schools’ buildings and classroom equipment, and more.

Donations will be accepted through Dec. 10 either through student-provided links, or in general to getmovinfundhub.com/community-share-webpage/67043ac4ea527.

Donors can also register at getmovinfundhub.com with the school identifier: 5d6012e247419.

More than 840 donations have been made to the PTA worth nearly $31,300 as of Dec. 2.
