Realtors recognize third grade essay contest winners

The Sequim Association of Realtors recently sponsored the “What My Home Means to Me” essay and poster contest for third-graders from Helen Haller Elementary, with all eight classes participating.

The winners were Alice Salgado, Gabe Weber, Ember Frisby, Marley Dockery, Brigitte Mast, Leina Pochert, Ellie Hannam and Emily Colvin.

Judges were Brenda Smith, Heather Souza, Diann Dickey, Sandy Taylor, Deon Kapetan and Julie Myers; not pictured are Scott Gordon and Jennifer Sweeney.

The essays describe what the children love (or not) about their homes, be it a stick built, manufactured, apartment, or recreation vehicle. This celebrates American Home Week, and home ownership.

The winners and their teachers received local gift cards donated by Sequim realtors and affiliate members on June 12.
