Retired fire chief displays nautical oil paintings at museum for month of June

Steve Vogel, a retired fire chief with Clallam County Fire District 3, hosts an art show of local nautical oil paintings for the month of June in Sequim Museum and Arts at 544 N. Sequim Ave.

See his work inside the museum from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, and during the First Friday Art Walk from 5-8 p.m. June 7.

Vogel, a University of Washington art major, put off doing his art work for more than 40 years while being working as a paramedic firefighter. For his last 15 years of service, he was the fire district’s fire chief until retiring in 2015.

This will be his third art show. This show will be quite different from his past exhibits of black and white pen and ink drawings; in the past year, Vogel said he has focused on using color to bring new life and light to his art.
