The Sequim Sunrise Rotary Club recently announced a big donation while continuing an ongoing volunteer effort to support the Sequim Food Bank, 144 W. Alder St.
Club members donated $10,000 to the food bank for dairy and meat products, supported by District 5020 Community Grant funding, with food bank staff saying the donation will help more than 2,088 families have access to nutritious food.
“Our club is deeply committed to supporting our community, and the collaboration with the 5020 District Community Grant makes an even greater impact,” said club treasurer Ann Flack.
The food bank relies on financial donations and volunteer support to meet the increasing demand from families facing food insecurity, Rotary members said.
In the last fiscal year, club members volunteered 706 hours at the food bank, with plans to match that effort the following year. Their support includes hands-on help and financial backing to keep the food bank’s shelves stocked with fresh, healthy options.
“We are immensely grateful to the Sequim Sunrise Rotary Club and the 5020 District Community Grant for their generosity,” said Andra Smith, executive director of the Sequim Food Bank. “Their support has enabled us to reach thousands of families in need and ensure they have access to the nutritious food they deserve.”
Rotary members said they continue to have a “commitment to fighting hunger in the community.”
