Local talent shines as Sequim Education Foundation presents its second annual Variety Show fundraiser at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in the Sequim High School auditorium, 533 N. Sequim Ave.
SEF’s 2012 Performing Arts Scholarship winner, vocalist Ayla Iliff, makes a special appearance. Iliff studies music at Cornish College of the Arts. Bud Davies is master of ceremonies.
The show reflects the 1920s theme for February set by the Sequim’s Centennial Year Celebration. The program includes the Sequim High School Jazz Band, directed by Vern Fosket; Mahina Lazzaro’s Na Hula O Wahine ‘Ilikea dance troupe; Sequim High School’s Select Choir, directed by John Lorentzen; Naomi Alstrup’s Jazz and Tap Dancing ensembles from Aspire Academy; and the Sequim City Band under the direction of Tyler Benedict.
Tickets are $10 at the door or in advance at Pacific Mist Books, 121 W. Washington St., or the School District Office, 503 N. Sequim Ave.
The event funds scholarship prizes for SEF student competitions and a performance art scholarship for a graduating senior.
