Dueling bands? There is no competition, but rather some camaraderie as the visiting band performs on its own, followed by the Sequim City Band — and likely some combined pieces.

Under the direction of Tyler Benedict, the Sequim City Band plays the fitting “Northwest Overture” by Jay Chattaway and an arrangement by Percy Grainger of the English dance tune, “Country Gardens,” arranged by John Philip Sousa.

Sousa is also featured in “The Black Horse Troop March.” Another great march set is “From Tropic to Tropic March” by R. Alexander and Karl L. King’s “Broadway One-Step” keeps the march toes tapping.

The saxophone section gets to shine in “Five To Go,” a jazz quintet for saxes with band by Jack Bullock. The familiar cinematic piece, “Raiders March” by John Williams — from the Indiana Jones blockbuster “Raiders of the Lost Ark” — is on the menu and “Selections from Chicago” will appeal to not only movie but theater buffs as well.

Other numbers such as “And All That Jazz,” the “Cell Block Tango” and “Roxie” are featured in a medley by John Kander and Fred Ebb.
