Sequim City Band cues up for ‘Instrumental Animations’

Join the Sequim City Band for “Instrumental Animations,” a free, family-friendly concert set for 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, at the James Center for the Performing Arts in north Carrie Blake Community Park.

The band offers a selection of music from animated favorites, including beloved tunes from Disney and Pixar hits such as “The Incredibles,” “Moana,” “The Jungle Book,” “The Lion King” and more. The concert will also feature favorites from DreamWorks Animation, including “How to Train Your Dragon” and “Shrek,” along with iconic music from “The Pink Panther,” the globally popular anime “Demon Slayer: Mugen Train” and a tribute to classic cartoons.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, shade umbrellas and cold drinks to enjoy a relaxing afternoon on the lawn. The event is free, and on-site parking is available.

The Sequim City Band, which provides free public concerts throughout the year, begins rehearsals on Wednesday, Sept. 25, for the first of its 2024-25 Indoor Concert Series — 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Port Angeles High School Performing Arts Center, 304 E. Park Ave.

This all-volunteer band welcomes wind instrumentalists and percussionists.

An open invitation to attend rehearsals is extended to any potential musician. Weekly rehearsals are held from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday evenings at the Chuck Swisher Rehearsal Hall, 506 N. Blake Ave. Contact the band (sequimcityband.org, 360-207-4722).
