By any name (or nickname), Frank Sinatra and his legacy live on. Under the direction of Tyler Benedict, the Sequim City Band will be paying a special tribute this week to Sinatra in honor of the crooner’s 100th birthday, aided by guest singer/announcer Amanda Bacon.

The concert is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at the James Center for the Performing Arts in Carrie Blake Park.

Among the well-known standards to be heard are the 1958 hit “Volare,” Hoagy Carmichael’s “Star Dust,” Rogers and Hart’s “My Funny Valentine” and “Come Fly With Me.”

A Sinatra tribute would not be complete without “Witchcraft,” “Mack the Knife,” “Love and Marriage,” “My Way” and the “Theme from New York, New York.” These are all combined in a jazzy medley entitled, “Ol’ Blue Eyes.”

Also featured this Sunday are pieces such as “Highlights from Guys and Dolls” by Frank Loesser. George and Ira Gershwin’s “They Can’t Take That Away From Me” showcases Bacon’s singing style. The traditional concert band will morph into a jazz band to perform Bart Howard’s 1954 golden oldie, “Fly Me to the Moon.”

As always, the Sequim City Band’s concerts are free of charge.

The group strives to provide an awareness and appreciation for concert band music to the residents and visitors of Clallam County.
