Olympic Winds debuts with the Open Aire Market this Saturday. A group of 20-plus clarinets will fill your ears and amaze your eyes. This will be a unique experience and I encourage you to come and take in the live music.

Though halfway through our market season, new vendors still join in. Welcome our newest vendor Katherine Kitts, whose business is called Sweet Beginnings. She is a longtime gourmet baker and cook who recently moved to Sequim. Kitts owned and operated a successful bakery in old town Silverdale for a decade, then did some traveling and wrote a book before she moved to Sequim.

Kitts will be baking her famous granola for you to take home and enjoy for breakfast or over vanilla ice cream. Also, she is a tremendous baker of cookies, scones and other marvelously delicious things that will be for sale weekly at the market. She is dedicated to using as many organic and local ingredients as possible. Be sure to say hello to her.

Myrna Milligan is a longtime member of the market with her bath and body products that go under the name Valley of the Sun. You can learn a lot talking to Myrna about health and skin care. What makes her products unique is the addition of liquid silk. They will leave you feeling silky while enriching your skin with proteins and amino acids. So, now that you are eating locally, it is time to bathe and beautify locally too.

Peninsula Friends of Animals will host the community booth, selling wonderful pot holders and bags. The proceeds of all sales go toward the organization. Peninsula Friends of Animals has its headquarters at Safe Haven, which is between Sequim and Port Angeles on U.S. Highway 101.

In Safe Haven, cats are able to live healthy lives while they await adoption. There are many cats and kittens awaiting caring homes. Come to the market and learn more about this important local organization. Friends of the Garden and the VFW also will be attending in the Suzanne Arnold community booths.
