January’s theme color of silver matches the frosty air for Sequim’s First Friday Art Walk from 5-8 p.m. Jan. 4.

Galleries and businesses display art, host receptions and provide live music for walkers, who are invited to don a touch of silver for the occasion.

Added to the art offerings is a sleuth-it-yourself mystery with a trip to Victoria, British Columbia, as a prize, courtesy the downtown merchants’ live game of detection from 5-7 p.m. (See story in Business, Section A.)

Venues for the Jan. 4 art walk include the following:

• “Art as a Family Affair” is at the Museum & Arts Center, 175 W. Cedar St., featuring the fiber artwork of Sherry Nagel and the late Pat Speer’s watercolors. Reception 5-8 p.m. See macsequim.org.

• The Blue Whole Gallery, 129 W. Washington St., features two artists each month. For January, Barbara Boerigter offers paintings and three-dimensional pieces of modern art and Mary Franchini’s world of creative impressionism is showcased. Visit bluewholegallery.com.   

• Saundra Cutsinger’s mixed media art is on display at the new location for Wind Rose Cellars, 143 W. Washington St., with a reception from 5-8 p.m.

• Artworks created by local and other American artists are featured at the Full Moon Candle Co., 161 W. Washington St. See fullmooncandle.com.

• Jeff Tocher’s colorful acrylic artwork shows through January at the Rainshadow Coffee Roasting Company, 157 W. Cedar St. First Friday entertainment includes music/vocals by Eileen Meyer. www.rainshadowcoffee.com.

• Tim Quinn left a legacy of artwork throughout the North Olympic Peninsula. His work and that of other local artists is displayed at the Sunshine Café, 145 W. Washington St., with chef’s choice snacks from 5-8 p.m.

• Sally Cays and Patricia Taynton exhibit traditional artwork and more at Gallery on the Walls, 128 E. Washington St. Meet the artists from 5-8 p.m.

• Jean Wyatt, resident artist at Pacific Mist Books, 121 W. Washington St., has place mats, greeting cards, bookmarks, calendars, wall hangings and floor cloths on display.

• Sallie and Randy Radock’s ongoing display of art and photos is at Dungeness Bay Wine & Cheese, 123 E. Washington St. Live music, open to 11 p.m. on First Friday.

• Randy Radock’s block print art has been specially framed by Clear Image, 518 N. Sequim Ave., and is on display there.

The following venues are for viewing during normal business hours with no reception.

• Shirley Mercer’s watercolor media and hand-painted designs on rescued furniture are part of the ongoing “Art in the Library Series” at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. through February. See www.nols.org.

• The residents at The Fifth Avenue, 500 W. Hendrickson St., Sequim, show their artwork in many mediums, styles and subject matter through Jan. 31 during normal business hours.

• Mary Francini’s art is on display at Adrian’s Restaurant, 665 N. Fifth Ave.

• Watermedia by Shirley Mercer are at Adagio Bean & Leaf, 981 E. Washington St.

• Robert Haspel’s photography shows at The Crumb Grabbers Bakery, 492 W. Cedar St., through January.

• Bank of America, 114 S. Sequim Ave., features Jan and Kay Kepley’s artwork Monday-Saturday through January.

• Scenic photography by Scott Erickson is at Strait Financial Advice, 193 W. Cedar St.
