Students read across Sequim

Students continued another chapter in Sequim’s Read Across America Day tradition last week.

Upper grades from Sequim Middle and High Schools traveled to the elementary schools on Friday, March 7 to read everything from Dr. Seuss to graphic novels to nonfiction texts.

At Helen Haller Elementary, high schoolers read for 30 minutes with different classes, while eighth graders rode the bus to Greywolf Elementary and took turns reading with different grades in a timed rotation.

The event was part of Sequim Elementary PTA’s Read-a-thon fundraiser that ends March 12 for students’ summer books, school and teacher projects, and more.

Read Across America Day is officially on March 2, and started in 1998. It also coincides with the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss.
