Symphony sends up next guest conductor

The Port Angeles Symphony’s next concert is set for Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Port Angeles High School Auditorium, 304 E. Park Ave.

Conducting is New York native Jonathan Pasternack. The soloist is accomplished violinist Marjorie Kransberg-Talvi. The final rehearsal is at 10 a.m., a pre-concert chat is at 6:40 p.m. and the evening concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Over the symphony’s season, it presents guest conductor candidates vying to become the next professional conductor of the orchestra. Audience members will have the opportunity to complete a written evaluation form.

Tickets are $20 and $30 for reserved seating, $15 for general admission adults/$12 for seniors and students (those under age 16 accompanied by an adult are admitted free). Rehearsal tickets are $5 for individuals, $10 for families. In Sequim, general admission tickets are available at The Good Book/Joyful Noise Music Center (108 W. Pasternack is an award­-winning American conductor who has conducted orchestras, opera and ballet in the United States and Europe, with such ensembles as the London Symphony Orchestra, Residentie Orkest of The Hague, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center, among others. His experience includes more than 30 opera and ballet productions.

Kransberg­-Talvi served as concertmaster and soloist for Pacific Northwest Ballet for two decades; she appeared on tour with the company in New York City, Washington, D.C, Anchorage, Alaska, and Istanbul, Turkey.
