Theatre company brings zealous energy to Jesus Christ Superstar

Ghostlight Productions cast and crew are excited to present their version of “Jesus Christ Superstar,” an iconic 1970s culturally hippie musical portrayal of the final days of Jesus’ life.

The show runs with an opening night special on July 12, then runs for nine more performances through July 27. All performances will take place at the Sequim High School Auditorium, 533 N. Sequim Ave.

Tickets are $14-$20 and are available now at glp.ludus.com/index.php.

The play was originally scheduled for April of 2020 and was halted — along with all public events — just weeks before opening.

“When I finally reopened [my director’s notebook] late last year I cried but was also a little fearful,” said Anna Pederson, the show’s director and choreographer.

“I wondered if we could capture the magic we had in 2020. Fears, by the way, that were quickly abated after the first night of auditions!”

Jeremy Pederson, Mark Lorentzen and Shahida Shahrir Mellon star as Jesus, Judas and Mary, respectively.

An ensemble cast rove, dance, and sing almost constantly through the run-time. Jonathan Lorentzen is the show’s music director.
