Tri-Area Garden Club sets annual plant sale

Representatives from the Tri-Area Garden Club (TAGC) in Jefferson County announced that there is a location change for their annual Plant Sale, set for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, in the Horticulture Building at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 4907 Landes St., Port Townsend.

Organizers encourage attendees to come early for the best selections. To make purchases easier, the event will now accept credit cards in addition to cash and checks.

A large variety of locally grown annuals, perennials, ground covers, ferns and indoor plants, including some orchids, will be available. Trees that grow well in the Pacific Northwest also will be available, in addition to the traditional Douglas Firs and Western Red Cedars that are native to Pacific Northwest landscapes.

New this year will be hanging baskets, “Garden Guardian” yard art and a variety of different sized planters for patios or gardens made locally by retired dentist David Chuljian.

Proceeds from the sale are used to fund grants and scholarships supporting the local community. Recent awards were granted to Habitat for Humanity, Chimacum High School’s horticulture department, Dove House, YMCA, Salish Coast School, Swan School, Gathering Place, Sunfield School, Main Street Program, Recovery Café and Chimacum Wellness Program.
