Before the long holiday weekend, Sequim elementary students ran, walked and trotted for funds to support some special programming at their schools.
Students at both Greywolf and Helen Haller Elementary schools sought pledges for participating in the annual Turkey Trot on Nov. 22.
The effort was a joint venture led by the Sequim Elementary PTA who sought $20,000 to purchase books for students to take home in the summer, and sponsor special assemblies, family events, scholarships, teacher/staff appreciations and more.
As of Thanksgiving, the group exceeded its goal — with more than $23,600 pledged from 640-plus donors.
An opportunity to donate through Getmovinfundhub.com under Sequim Elementary PTA will be accepted through Nov. 30, organizers said.
