Victorian Festival steams up Port Townsend

Port Townsend’s 17th annual Victorian Festival, March 22-24, is presented by Olympic Peninsula Steam (sponsor of the new Steam Punk Festival, June 7-9), in collaboration with Port Townsend’s Main Street Program and the Jefferson County Historical society.

Held in multiple venues downtown, the event includes lectures on Victorian costuming, gardening and culture along with fashion shows and demonstrations of 19th-century bicycling, bare-knuckle boxing, fencing and the firing of cannon and a Gatling gun.

Gardening authority Ann Lovejoy speaks at a fundraising dinner March 22 and shares her knowledge of Victorian crafts, gardens and medicinal herbs throughout the weekend.

Broken Dreams plays for a Victorian Ball on March 23.

General tickets are $25, $20 in advance. Certain events such as tours, dinner and dances have additional costs. Further details and tickets are available at www.victorianfestival.org and during the festival at the Cotton Building, 607 Water St., Port Townsend.
