Video game coding workshop set for Saturday in Sequim

The North Olympic Library System invites students in grades 4-7 to participate in Code Club, a free STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) event that teaches video game coding skills.

Sequim-based artist and educator Cecilia Hillway helps youths use creativity, art, and technology to start creating a basic video game with Microsoft’s free MakeCode software.

Space for Code Club is limited; participants must register at NOLS.org/events. West End libraries will allow students in adjacent grade levels to attend.

The Code Club schedule includes:

• 1:30-3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Olympic Peninsula Academy gymnasium, 400 N. 2nd Ave.

• 1:30-3 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Forks Library

• 3:30-5 p.m.Saturday, July 13, at Clallam Bay Branch Library

This event is part of the “Read, Renew, Repeat” Summer Reading Program, happening now through Aug. 24. Sign up for the reading challenge, earn a T-shirt, win prizes and participate in free events.
