One lucky local veterinarian again will have the unique opportunity to kiss a pig at the Clallam County Fair, courtesy of the 4-H Leaders’ Council.
Starting this week, all participating veterinarians will have piggy banks in their offices to accept donations in their names. Several businesses in Sequim and Port Angeles will have display boards to allow voting for your favorite veterinarian.
The "winner" – the vet with the most money donated in his or her name – gets to kiss the pig in the swine/sheep arena at the Clallam County Fair at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 21.
Money raised in this contest provides year-end awards, scholarships to graduating seniors ($750 awarded last year), and help with costs of out-of-area 4-H teen events.
Each 4-H graduating senior who applies for a scholarship and completes the year receives a scholarship. More than 800 county youths are active in 4-H programs.
