Sequim native Ken Boynton returns this weekend to present a free musical entertainment show at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall with his wife, Anna, and guitarist Glenn Lorbecki.

With a background in music and comedy, he and his partners will entertain the crowd with songs from folk to country to rock, along with a little comedy and improvisation.

"I like joking around in between seriously good music," he said.

Anna Boynton, who has a background in musical theater, and Lorbecki, who runs a recording studio in Seattle, both have performed all over the world, he said.

"He’s our secret weapon," he said of Lorbecki.

Boynton got his start in Sequim, performing one-man shows at Olympic Theatre Arts, he said.

He and Anna, who have been married nearly three years, provide entertainment at corporate events through their company Message Glue. They "help the message stick" by putting corporate presentations to music, he said. They live in Seattle.

Thinking it’d be fun to do a show back home, he compiled a list of songs and called the VFW to set up the event, he said.

"The VFW said they have some members who like to dance so even though there’s just two guitars and two singers, we promised it would be danceable," he said.

The music will cover artists from John Denver to Elvis Costello and a variety of topics including zombies, he said.

The Boynton duo likes to play off the audience and whatever is going on in the room, so surprises are sure to happen, he said.

Show admission is free. It starts at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, at the VFW hall, 169 E. Washington St., Sequim.
