Heavy rain in the Olympics brought the Dungeness River within a few inches of flood stage Tuesday morning. Flood stage on the Dungeness is 7.0 feet and the river reached 6.70 feet at 6:15 a.m. As the rain let off, river levels dropped to 6.24 feet at noon Tuesday according to U.S. Geological Service monitoring stations. Rain will continue for the rest of the week but river levels are expected to continue to drop and to remain below flood stage.
