All in for community contra dance at Sequim Library

An all-ages community contra dance is set for 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, on the lawn behind the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave. All ages and abilities are encouraged to participate and all dances will be taught at this free event. Event organizers call contra dancing "vibrant, social and inclusive," and that no previous dance experience, lessons or special costumes are necessary. Come alone or with a partner to enjoy reels, circle mixers, contras, squares and couple dances set to live music. Caller Sherry Nevins teaches and leads the dances, with live musical accompaniment from fiddler Rodney Miller and guitarist Alex Sturbaum. In the event of inclement weather, the dance will be held inside the Sequim High School cafeteria, 601 N. Sequim Ave. Photo courtesy of the North Olympic Library System
