Backyard Birding series resumes

Set for Saturday, Jan. 9, ”What Bird was That?/Birding 102” by Denny AFMJ Van Horn, is the fourth program in the Backyard Birding series presented by the Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society.

His presentation covers bird guides, electronic guides, bird sounds, optics, expectant species and birding and the Internet. He will address specific questions from participants.

All sessions are 10 a.m.-noon at the Dungeness River Audubon Center at Railroad Bridge Park, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road.

The public is invited to attend any or all of the eight sessions. For adults, each class includes a $5 fee; after five classes are attended, OPAS offers a year of membership.

Upcoming classes are: Feb. 6, “Nesting”; March 5, “Migration”; April 9, “Spring Landscaping for Birds”; May 14, “Spring Sounds” and June 11, “Out of the Nest.”
