In May, Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team investigators found 50 "healthy and growing" marijuana plants after serving a search warrant in Blyn and arrested and charged four residents of the area for the crime.
Three of the four, Michael Garbocci, Christina Simpson and Edmond Perez, have reached deals with the Clallam County Prosecuting Attorney’s office and have been sentenced in Clallam County Superior Court. The fourth, Rusty Lee, still is moving through the system.
Garbocci, 34, reportedly the organizer of the operation, was sentenced Nov. 6 to six months in jail and $2,150 in fines for the charges of manufacture of marijuana, possession with intent to manufacture or deliver marijuana, and three counts of delivery of marijuana. All the charges were class C felonies.
Simpson, 30, was sentenced Oct. 28 to 90 days in jail and $1,150 in fines for the charge of possession of 40 grams or less of marijuana, a misdemeanor. The judge suspended 89 days of confinement pending Simpson’s compliance with probation.
Perez, 26, was sentenced to $2,395 in fines and six months of confinement for the charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana and two counts of delivery of marijuana.
OPNET initiated an investigation into the alleged sale of marijuana at the Blyn residence located on the 271000 block of U.S. Highway 101 earlier this year in response to citizen complaints.
Officers reportedly found and confiscated more than two pounds of processed and packaged marijuana as well as a large amount of cash during the search of the residence. Officers also reportedly found a marijuana growing operation in one of the detached buildings, which contained 50 plants in different stages of growth, growing equipment and equipment used to extract the active ingredient in marijuana to create an oil-like substance for smoking.
Simpson allegedly told officers the marijuana they sell comes from California and that the suspects take turns driving south for pick-ups. Both Simpson and Garbocci allegedly met Lee in southern Washington to obtain about a half-pound of the drug.
