In the spirit of a spooky October, the Sequim Library staff is inviting teenagers to stop by and check out their section of "Books With Bite."

The section was put together for Teen Read Week, which staff hopes will draw youngsters in to read "for the fun of it."

The year’s theme, Books With Bite, includes a variety of books and graphic novels about animals, vampires and even cooking.

Teen Read Week is a national literacy initiative of the Young Adult Library Services Association. It is held each year during the third week in October. This year marks the first year the Sequim Library will be participating.

Teen Read Week began Oct. 12 and continues through Oct. 18 at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.

Not only will teens have a variety of entertaining books to choose from, they will have the opportunity to enter into the library’s hoax photo contest.

Teens can test their digital photo editing skills as they superimpose creative "freaky" images into recognizable local scenes. The top three entries will win prizes and all photos will be posted in the Sequim Library for all to enjoy.
