The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula received a check for $8,200 from the Promise of Hope Foundation, proceeds from the Gateway fundraiser held on March 19. The rest of the proceeds go to Promise of Hope, which funds education for youths in Uganda.
“This is all about kids and education,” said Barbara Brown, founder of the Promise of Hope Foundation. “Both nonprofit organizations continue to support children and focus awareness on promoting education and building self-esteem and independence through their programs.”
“Lines on a map don’t matter,” said Boys & Girls Clubs Executive Director Mary Budke. “Our kids are our world and all children need our attention and support. We will be working with our teens and ’tweens at the Boys & Girls Clubs and will establish a pen pal program and other projects to get these kids involved together.”
