United Way of Clallam County will kick off their annual community campaign with Celebrate United, set for 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at the Red Lion Hotel, 221 N. Lincoln St., Port Angeles.
The theme of Celebrate United 2024 is “United We Rise and Shine” and will be hosted as a “brunch and learn” opportunity.
New this year, the event will feature a panel of community experts: Wendy Bart, CEO of Olympic Peninsula YMCA; Mary Budke, CEO of Boys and Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula; Wendy Sisk, CEO of Peninsula Behavioral Health; and moderator, Christy Smith, CEO of United Way of Clallam County.
Along with a list of moderated questions, event attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panel.
“The panel members have their finger on our community’s pulse, from the need in Clallam County, to resource availability, to the service gaps,” program organizers note.
The Red Lion will cater a full brunch buffet complete with everyone’s favorite breakfast menu items, including dishes for folks with dietary restrictions. Attendees will also have the opportunity to sample signature brunch cocktails and mocktails, as well as spiked coffee or loaded hot cocoa. Keepsake mason jars and campfire mugs are available for an additional donation.
Tickets are available for $50 per person or $350 for a table of 8. A direct link to the event webpage can be found at united24.givesmart.com.
By purchasing a ticket to this brunch, attendees are helping United Way support projects and programs that contribute to the well-being of the community, United Way officials said.
“This event is not just an opportunity to enjoy good company and a brunch experience, it’s a chance to learn more about Clallam County and make a tangible difference in our community,” said Jaycie Wakefield, Development Director for United Way.
“Day in and out, United Way of Clallam County works to meet the most critical needs in our community,” Smith said.
“In every stage of life, we are there leading the change. We provide books from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to our youngest learners. We support those starting college or getting back into the workforce with student financial aid resources. We fund nonprofits with grants to support those who are struggling to pay rent, utilities, and more. Together we are working towards a future where everyone can reach their full potential.”
Celebrate United is sponsored by Red Lion, Jim’s Pharmacy, DA Davidson, Sound Community Bank, Irwin Dental, Olympic Peninsula Stone, and Edward Jones financial advisor Tyler Johnson.
“Highly distinguishable events such as Celebrate United would not be possible without the generosity of local sponsors and a caring community willing to help us make positive lasting changes in our community,” Wakefield said.
