Garden Center fall schedule

Jim Gilliland presents a free water awareness class from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at Botanical Touch, 115 N.

Around Again sells used goods

Around Again at 765 W. Washington St., Sequim, opens Saturday, Oct. 10.

Used building materials and home furnishings are among the items for sale, to help reduce the amount of reusable items going to the landfill.

Academy expands staff, facility

Aspire Academy of Expressive Arts has several new instructors: drama instructor Kelly Lovall; music instructor Gretchen Gunter, and chamber music and flute instructor Patti Monson.

The academy recently expanded to accommodate the growing music and drama departments.

Aspire offers music, dance, drama and fitness to students of all ages, both new and experienced.

Poetry workshop scheduled

"A Poem of One’s Own" offers an introduction or refresher to various types of poetry 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Mondays, beginning Oct. 12 at Centre of Infinite Reflections, 144 Tripp Road, Sequim.

Patty Kinney teaches the weekly workshop, which introduces haiku and pantoum, simile and metaphor, and creates "found" poems as well as several others.

Horse clinics presented

Denise Callahan of Callahan Show Horses in Arlington presents a performance horse clinic Oct. 17-18 at Olympic View Stables, 136 Finn Hall Road, Port Angeles. Callahan has trained horses professionally for 15 years.

The price for the two-day clinic is $180. One-day and one-session prices are available. Spectators can watch for $20. Showstoppers 4-H Club sponsors the clinic.
