Sequim Dungeness Hospital Guild’s thrift shop, 204 W. Bell St., will be open 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, July 17. All white-tagged items will be half price. Profits from the store are returned to the community.
Rainshadow hosts free tastings
The Rainshadow Coffee Roasting Company, at 503-B, S. Third Ave. in Sequim, offers free tastings from 8-11 a.m. on Fridays. Don Batcheller roasts coffee at his roastery frequently so tasters always get the freshest roast. Stop in and try several varieties, then purchase favorites. Angie Webster of McComb Gardens has passed the Washington State Nursery & Landscape Association certification test. She has many hours in the industry and now is qualified as a certified professional horticulturalist.
Business workshop
The Port Angeles office of the Washington State Department of Revenue hosts a free workshop for new and small-business owners from 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday, July 20, at the Clallam Business Incubator, 905 W. Ninth St., Port Angeles.
Participants learn about Washington excise taxes, reporting classifications, deductions, tax incentives, sales tax collection and record-keeping requirements. They can ask questions specific to their businesses and receive a workbook and reference guide to department rules and regulations.

Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce’s series dealing with ongoing debate about growth/no growth on the Olympic Peninsula and Port Angeles continues at noon Mondays, July 19 and 26, at The Red Lion Hotel, 221 N. Lincoln St., Port Angeles.
Bill Hermann, Jack Harmon, Dan Abbott, George Schoenfeldt, a panel of local business people, present their points of view regarding growth in the area on July 19. Dan Gase, Alan Barnard and Bill Feeley offer comments from real estate and the building trades at the final program of the series on July 26.
Ron Bergman and Sheriff Bill Benedict discuss prescription drug abuse and what is being done locally to help control it at the Aug. 2 program.

Jewelry show
A Silpada Jewelry trunk show is from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, in the media room on the second floor at The Lodge at Sherwood Village. Tender Touches Spa sponsors the show.
