McCrorie Carpet One Floor & Home and Good Housekeeping magazine call for entries for the 2008 Design for Pink! welcome mat design contest.

The winning entrant will receive $1,500 of Good Housekeeping Carpet and 10 welcome mats in the winning design.

The contest is open to all U.S. residents. Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. EST on June 30. Voting for finalists is July 7-18.

Erica Tisdale has joined McHugh Realtors.Tisdale joins the organization after taking the required courses and passing the state Department of Licensing exam for real estate licensees. She was born in Anchorage, Alaska, and had visited Sequim since her grandparents moved here in 1975.

At the age of 17, she joined the United States Navy and served as a hospital corpsman. She moved to Sequim in 1993, where she met her husband, whose family has been in the Port Angeles/Sequim area since 1912.

Dan Ghere, a Blake Sand & Gravel employee for 17 years, assumes the position of operations manager of the Port Angeles store, 4001 Tumwater Truck Route, Port Angeles, as of June 1.

He has served as manager of the Sequim store since it opened in 1992.

Both locations are open 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.

Chris Yeager, with the Windermere Sequim-East office, was awarded the Windermere Premiere Associate designation and the state-approved Accredited Luxury Home Specialist designation.

Innovation Law Group Ltd. announces the grant of a U.S. patent to local inventor John M. McNulty of Sequim. McNulty’s patent covers barrel storage units that rotate on a base platform so access to shelving, drawers, wine racks or Lazy Susans fitted into the interior can be rotated to a concealed position. Volunteers in Medicine of the Olympics in Port Angeles has received the Washington Health Foundation’s Healthiest State in the Nation Campaign award.

VIMO will use the $15,000 in funds generated by this award to enhance the clinic’s ability to improve access to health care to the underinsured members of the community by supplementing staff salaries, eligibility and access program development, and IT improvement and development. The Healthiest State in the Nation Campaign is the largest civic engagement campaign for health in Washington.

Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County will offer a 5-week grief recovery program in Sequim beginning Monday, June 2. The meetings are from 1-3 p.m. at the United Trinity Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave. Pre-registration is required. There is no charge. Call 452-1511 to register.
