Calvary Chapel Sequim

Calvary Chapel Sequim’s mission statement is "Teaching then walking through the Word to become living illustrations of Jesus."

Church leaders say they are a community of Jesus followers seeking to show what the life of Jesus would look like today, as they understand him through Scripture.

Church services

The church congregation of more than 230 people meets at 9 and 11 a.m. Sundays.

Children’s Sunday school, ages 3-11, and nursery, birth-3, are available at both services.

Youth group service for grades six-12 is at 9 a.m. Sunday.

The church services don’t include many hymns; the center of their worship is Jesus’ words.

"We read and struggle with (Jesus) to know him," said Pastor Hans Bailey.

"So we go through Scripture from Genesis to Revelation to capture all of (Jesus), so we can come face to face with not only those things we love about him but also the character we never knew was there."

Leaders describe services as interestingly eclectic. They say worship leader Derek Thomas learned to play music in bars, Mike Buchanan, associate and children’s pastor was a logger/construction worker, Andrew Thomas, youth pastor is a business leader in Sequim, and the senior pastor does not have formal training.
