Hundreds four-legged competitors and their handlers were on site for the Hurricane Ridge Kennel Club’s All-Breed Dog Shows, Obedience and Rally Trials, held July 29-31 at Carrie Blake Community Park.
The shows were held in memory of Chris Cornell, a longtime obedience and rally chairman for the club, who died in early June.
Cornell was helping HRKC prepare for the June 3-5 Agility Obedience and Rally Trials at Carrie Blake Community Park, and was less than three weeks from judging the seventh-annual Masters Obedience Championship at Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York.
Competitions on July 29 included 770 dogs (818 total entries). On July 30, 844 dogs were competing (892 total entries), and on July 31, 831 dogs were entered (total entry 878).
The event included an Emerald City K-9 Freestyle Dog Dancing demonstration featuring teams from Washington state,, Oregon and British Columbia.
