Community members are invited to the upcoming 8th Annual Building Your Caregiver’s Toolbox Conference “Keeping a Healthy Balance,” from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Port Angeles Senior & Community Center, 328 E. Seventh St., Port Angeles.
The free event, co-sponsored by the Olympic Area Agency on Aging and the Port Angeles Senior Center, is for family and professional caregivers of community elders.
At the conference, keynote speaker Marty Richards, MSW, LICSW, Port Townsend, will present “Keeping a Balance: Health, Hope and Heart.”
Morning presentations also include Jim Couture, MA, MT-BC, Encore! Adult Day Center, presenting “Maximizing Music in the Home,” as well as “Healthy Balance: A Taste of Classes” offered at the Port Angeles Senior Center.
Afternoon workshops feature: Chair Exercises for the Home, Reclaiming Your Happy Space, Getting to Yes!/Conflict Resolution Skills, It Takes a Village/Peninsula Behavioral Health, and Gizmo Classes 1 & 2 featuring information on Android tablets, phones, Apple iPads and iPhones with help from the Port Angeles Senior Center lab volunteers
The event also will feature more than two dozen agencies, organizations and businesses that will be available to offer community members support and information about local services. Complimentary lunches for caregivers are provided by Park View Villas Retirement & Assisted Living.
