GREYWOLF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

_ The annual Greywolf Science Fair was held in conjunction with Family Night on June 3. There were 183 projects entered into the fair this year. Topics ranged from experiments with chemistry to plant sciences. Kindergarten through second grade completed whole-class experiments, third grade focused on small group consumer science projects, fourth-graders partnered up for their experiments, and fifth-graders each completed a project. We are thankful for our science teacher Carla Morton for all her hard work. Several hundred people were able to view the projects and enjoy the evening with friends and family. The PTA gave away hot dogs and held the raffle. It was a huge success!

_ Registration is taking place for the 2010-2011 school year for all students eligible to enter school in the fall. In addition, if your child turns 5 before Aug. 31, 2010, you may register him/her now for kindergarten. Registration packets are available on the school district Web site at www.sequim.k12.wa.us or in the school office during regular school hours.

The fifth-grade breakfast and graduation ceremony is from 8:45-10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 17, in the school gym.

Yellow

Yellow looks like fireflies dancing in the moon light,

Yellow feels like a blazing hot sun beating on your face,

Yellow smells like daisies waving in the wind,

Yellow tastes like a sour lemon twisting your face,

Yellow sounds like a buzzing bee searching for flowers.

Natural Disasters….

Blue looks like a tsunami,

Plunging into the inland of Hawaii.

Brown looks like dust,

From a windy desert in Utah.

White looks like a blizzard,

Ripping through the snowy plains in Antarctica.

Yellow looks like lightning,

Blasting in the heavens.

Silver looks like a twister,

The spinal column twirling down, ripping the vast land.

Grey looks like wind,

Fighting the storm coming close.

Black feels like an earthquake,

Shaking the towns and cities.

Red looks like a volcano,

Spitting up hot sauce.

Dark grey looks like ash,

After a blast from a fiery monster.

Yellow looks like the sun,

After a natural disaster.

Blue is the color of the sky

Blue is the color of the splashing ocean

Blue is the color of jeans when you first buy them

But most of all, it is the color of the water that makes up 75 percent of the Earth

Blue is what we need to protect

Of a vampire,

They are hypnotizing

SEQUIM MIDDLE SCHOOL

Elected by sixth- and seventh-grade students, the 2010-2011 Associated Student Body officers are president Mikey Cobb, vice president Miguel Moroles, secretary Brandon Fulmer, treasurer Victoria Cummins and public relations officer Riesa Sumida, all seventh-graders.

In August the newly elected ASB officers will spend four days in Randall at Leadership Camp. The new regime already is planning activities for the student body for next year.

The Moving On ceremony for eighth-graders is 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, in the gym.

First Teacher is in Sequim Community School at 220 W. Alder St., next to the playground. Drop-in times during the school year are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. There is no charge to visit the room. HIGH SCHOOL

On June 7, 98 high school seniors gave oral presentations in classrooms throughout the high school and middle school campuses. Topics relating to current societal issues were researched, written up and developed into Power Point presentations that lasted up to 15 minutes, including question and answer time. Presenters were graded by evaluators, teachers and community members.
