Christian School hosts its first safety event

Students meet and operate the robot for Washington State Patrol’s bomb squad. It diffuses bombs safely, controlled by experts who use a camera and protective padding while working from a distance.

A safety fair on May 7 at Olympic Christian School, 43 O’Brien Road, Port Angeles, brought students together with law enforcement and service agencies.

Grades kindergarten-six visited stations hosted by Clallam County Fire District 3, Clallam County Sheriff’s water and safety patrols, and the Washington State Patrol bomb squad.

Officials spoke about their fields and how they work and keep people on the peninsula safe.

Principal Brian Clark said this was the first time the school was chosen for an event like this and that the students were really excited.
