Gardening celebrity Ciscoe Morris returns to Sequim to open the 2012 Sequim Lavender Farm Faire and Lavender in the Park, running July 20-22.

Morris has come to Sequim for years and loves lavender, often complimenting it with his catchphrase “ooh-la-la.”

The opening ceremonies begin 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2012, at the James Center for Performing Arts in the Water Reuse Demonstration Park next to Carrie Blake Park with a workshop led by Morris along with a full day of fair activities.

The Sequim Lavender Farm Faire, produced by the Sequim Lavender Farmers Association, continues for a second year with its Lavender Farm Tour and Lavender in the Park during the lavender weekend.

Lavender in the Park is the hub of the group’s lavender weekend, with more than 150 booths, hundreds of lavender products and displays, crafts, foods and many community, nonprofit, agricultural and sponsor booths.

“In its first year, visitors raved about the relaxed and spacious atmosphere in the park that fits seamlessly with the Lavender Farm Tour and all the park has to offer — great artists and exhibits, amazing food, the acoustically outstanding stage, the many lavender products and the grounds of the park,” said Scott Nagel, executive director of the Sequim Lavender Farmers Association.

Planning for 2012 is under way with  the goal of expanding programming at the park and enhancing the layout, design and services with help from the community.
